Q8. Evaluate how successful your product is with your target audience using audience feedback



Video Feedback: Here I received a lot of comments from interviews I did. I agree with the amount of text on my front cover; was quite plain and therefore maybe could use some more text to fill up the white gaps. I wanted my media product to be more structured and professional rather than having so much writing and images cramming the magazine too much. However my contents page my interviewee said that it was actually positive such as how the colour scheme and font style are all well suited with the overall urban theme and target audience of the magazine. Although the target audience is slightly more swayed towards the male viewer, a unisex colour scheme including colours such as red black and white have been incorporated to enable an open target market for both males and females interested in urban music. The majority of the font involved is bold and hard as opposed to rounded, which again works cohesively with the edgy urban theme. Mostly it has important headlines have been highlighted by increasing size and definition to influence impact on the reader, whereas less prominent subtitles have been formatted to imply lower necessity.

 
On the other hand, my first and third person I interviewed picked up on the lack the images on the contents page and recommended possibly quality of the image. Small improvements I could suggest would be the possibility of higher definition images, which would make the magazine, look more legitimately professional and further heighten the overall quality. In addition there is possibility for the contents page title font to be enlarged and changed in style which would maintain consistency in font style and theme throughout the pages. But in my opinion, I think that the images within the magazine have been executed to a high level replication when comparing the magazine to real life hip hop magazines. Eye level camera angles and close ups give an intimate feel to the images which I think enraptures the idea of getting to know and introducing the supposed artists included in the issue. Overall I think that my media product has been completed to a high standard, which reflects the needs of the current urban youth market.

 Regarding the double page spread, both interviewees seemed to mention the same things. They both liked the titles and one large picture dominating the entire page; convey the status and authority of the artist. The large title really makes a statement and makes it stand out. A quote from the artist makes it look more personal. To a point I agree with them.  

My Opinion

On the whole I think that my front cover is the weakest page I did as it is quite basic and standard. However for me to improve this problem I could have more variety  and different fonts than just two and maybe used more of my colour scheme possibly more  types of fonts. Having said this I do think the grey scale image on a white background works so the necessity for multiple colours is questionable.

I wouldn't make any changes to my contents/double page spread from the feedback I got. I think they're structured well and professional conventions to real media product and on how the different parts such as title, photos, texts and etc and work with each .
